-piercings, tattoos
-short hair, flipped out, dyed, long bangs
-tight fitting shirts with random slogans, striped polos, t-shirts from thrift stores
-old jeans, dickies (look like you shop at a thrift store)
-sweaters, jean jackets
-converse (chuck taylors), 80's style jogging shoes, mary janes
-thick, horn-rimmed glasses
-anything with stars on it
-makeup... keep it light
-bracelets (many), wristcuffs
-studded belt (glitter belt is a emo-don't)
-homemade jewelry
- surplus bags with 1" buttons on it (preferably band ones)
-be vegetarian
-like and keep your Sarah McLachlan cd's, just don't admit it
-drive a VW (preferrably a New Beetle or Jetta)
-band stickers on your car
-keep the sad, contemplative, mysterious look
-don't let anyone know you're really the happiest person alive
-GO TO SHOWS... support your local music scene.

-piercings (esp. lip rings & plugs), star tattoos
-slr camera, video camera
-thick, black, horn-rimmed glasses
-thrift store shirts with random slogans
-tight fitting band shirts (dashboard, jets to brazil, etc...)
-if you can find tight fitting thrift store old band shirts, emo-plus!!!
-short, black hair (bangs are an emo plus)
-old, semi-tight fitting jeans or dickies
-converse (chuck taylors) shoes, 80's style jogging shoes
-studded belt
-army surplus bag, gap shoulder bag with 1" pins
-NO SPIKES, unless you're creating emo-goth (and please don't)
-old, mesh baseball caps with random slogans
-drive a VW (preferrably a Jetta)
-band stickers on car
-wrist cuffs, leather (faux please) cuffs
-too many star accessories can be an emo-don't for boys (keep it light)
-do NOT wear make-up or paint your nails, thank you.
-look semi-clean cut, but don't look like you actually care about you appearance
-pawn your limp bizkit, korn cd's (please)
-start or join a band
-if you aren't in a band...GO TO SHOWS!... support your local music scene.

-keep eachother as emo as possible
-don't break up with eachother for un-emo people
-don't make out exessively in public (remember emo=sad)
-be happy together, despite your depressed facade
-don't get tattoos of eachothers names
-get piercings together
-make love to emo music
-rent indie movies like Amelie and watch them together
-hold hands
-don't wear matching outfits (ever)
-be careful not to get stuff caught in eachothers piercings
-accept your significant other for the emo they really are
-watch out for missing pins on eachothers emo bags (i hate that!)
-guys: go front row for your girl even if that means getting kicked in the head
